December 16, 2018The Most Important Things In Your Marketing
May 30, 2019“Everyone is broken by life, and afterward, many are strong in the broken places.”
~ Earnest Hemingway
We all work hard at what we do for a living. It can be daunting to keep up with all the requirements our businesses demand. In telling our stories and marketing ourselves, our messages and efforts can become clouded. We get tired of wearing so many hats and juggling so many responsibilities. Are You Crazy Enough to Keep Going? When these things happen to you, you must stop and leap. Stop and quietly breathe, get your thinking focused again, then jump ahead with persistence and passion.
Let me share a few secrets to explain what I mean. I have learned to use these techniques when things become jumbly for me, not only in my business but when I feel passion waning or when it gets difficult on the jogging trail. When I actively engage them, it is amazing at how my thinking lines up, focus returns, and things become clear again. It is like changing a channel in your mind.
Lyric’s Marketing Tip #33: Are You Crazy Enough to Keep Going?
Write down the marketing goals that you need to accomplish. This begins with your daily list all the way to your strategic marketing plan. If you don’t write it down, chances are you will not accomplish it.
2 – VISUALIZE YOURSELF WHERE YOU WANT TO BE
Being visual is a creative technique. Go to a peaceful, quiet place, center down your mind, close your eyes and visualize yourself as achieving your goal. Maybe it is at the podium giving that TEDTalk or maybe it is on a much needed vacation. See yourself where you want to be.
3 – FOCUS ON THE ACTIVITIES THAT WILL GET YOU THERE
Learn to cut the fat (a saying I learned from my big sis), in other words, cut out what is not good for you, what is not productive for your goal. Build systems that support you, focus on the activities that will breed the results you are after.
4 – CREATE A SUPER HERO IN YOUR MIND
Sometimes when things are tough, your getting tired, and you have to keep going, it’s good to visualize yourself with super power. Example: when I am running and get tired or just want to relax my mind and get into the moment, I visualize that I am a strong lioness roaming the plain, inspecting the land and keeping watch over all the terrain. This brings me peace and keeps me in my pace. What super power can you visualize yourself being that will bring you peace and a sense of power?
5 – WWTD?
Think of people we know who have been met with BIG troubles and adversity – what would they do? What would Teddy Roosevelt do, take the morphine and die on the Amazon? Ask yourself, would Eleanor Roosevelt give up just because she had been told no by a rude critic? What would Franklin Roosevelt do? Lay in bed and cry?
6 – WHEN THE WIND BLOWS YOU OVER, STAND UP STRONG
We are going to fail. Cry, be a wimp, get sick, get stuck, get mad, but don’t stay there. When the winds of pressure blow you over, just stand back up straight and tall.
7 – IT’S NOT ALL INSPIRATION
And remember – it’s 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration!
