Lyric Marketing’s HOT TOP 10 List for April: Get out Your Shades!

Time to get your shorts on, pull out the tank tops, slap on some sunscreen, shades and a hat, and get outside!  Greetings and wishes for a happy and safe spring where anything from tornadoes to hail to blasting heat and rainy nights can happen.  But who cares? Because this old grey nasty winter is on it’s way out and hello flowers and green.  I am especially looking forward to my first swim in the old handy Lyric pool – haven’t set a date yet thought, waiting to see if we can get consistent heat enough to warm the pool!

It has been a busy month with lots of action for Lyric Marketing and our clients, and production towards new things.  My book “52 KILLER Marking Tips” is now published and available for purchase (wink wink) on Amazon and available for Kindle as well.  I am working on a new book for Saturday Soul titled “Heart Mind Spirit – my second coming in poetry and prose”.  This book is a VERY intimate and personal look at life and love through my writings over the last 15+ years.

Italian composer Gioachino Rossini’s works are often compared to an excellent glass of bubbly—fizzy, light, crowd-pleasing, and yet still substantial enough to have you rolling in the aisles. His most famous aria, of course, comes from the comedic opera The Barber of Seville, in which in the barber of the title is alternately introducing himself and bragging about his handiness with a razor and comb. You know: “Figaro, Figaro, Figaro!” The actual story resolves around the schemes of Figaro and the rich Count Almaviva as Almaviva attempts to win the heart of the beautiful young Rosina without informing her of his true identity.

Playwright Theresa Rebeck’s acerbic comedy blasts the stereotypes of pseudo-intellectual literary snobs with her trademark blend of razor-sharp dialogue and punchy characters. Leonard, a famous yet aging novelist, has charged four young aspirants $5,000 each for a ten-week fiction workshop. These tortured writer types—two men, two women—quickly get sidetracked, however, by romantic intrigue and competition for Leonard’s approval. Here’s the niggle: much of Seminar’s delight in its Broadway debut came from the depth the actor Alan Rickman (that voice!) brought to the role of Leonard, a womanizing lout who delights in pitting his charges against each other and reveling in his superiority. We’re interested to see how the role is reimagined here.
